History of the cocktail
The first cocktails were made in the beginning of the 19th century in the USA, more accurately in New Orleans. There exists quite a few theories as to how the cocktail got it’s name. Among all the theories there is one that is best liked and in which we also believe – the story of cock fighting. After the cock fight they would pluck a feather from the defeated cock and put it into the winners drink as a decoration and as a sign of victory.
The golden age of the cocktail emerges in the 20th century in the era of Jazz. Cocktails became a part of the daily life of the Americans and strongly influenced the culture of music, film and literature. Due to the prohibition in the USA the cocktail experiences a downfall, however, after the prohibition, gains even more importance in the social life throughout the entire planet.
The constantly changing and developing process hidden behind the making of the cocktail, can be in some ways attributed to the new trends and products which appear on the market. However, we also have to emphasize the importance of barmen, who with love and passion create new drinks for you to try out.
